SMS Text Service is a Hit with Theatres
Leading Mobile Marketing firm www.txtlocal.co.uk has witnessed a massive increase in the number of Theatres and Ticket Sellers using their SMS text messaging service to promote shows and increase ticket sales.
(PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) June 16, 2009 -- Leading Mobile Marketing firm www.txtlocal.co.uk has witnessed a massive increase in the number of Theatres and Ticket Sellers using their SMS text messaging service to promote shows and increase ticket sales.
The Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester is just one of a string of Theatres using text to target patrons with special offers and promotions for shows. The primary target audience for The Royal Exchange’s text campaigns are students and text is proving very useful in reaching this sector.
Vicky Bloor of the Royal Exchange claims that SMS messaging is the best way to reach students. “We have had a good response from our text campaigns...typically around 8% of recipients will make a box office booking after receiving a text promotion.”
The Lowry Theatre, Manchester also use Txtlocal’s SMS service to send details of their latest special offers and promotions. Over 720 patrons opted in to receive the special offer text alerts during the first month alone. This figure is expected to steadily increase as awareness of the alert service grows. The first text campaign was aimed at families and generated a 13% response rate with 61 tickets being sold.
Robert Martin, The Tourism and E-marketing Manager of The Lowry is delighted with the response achieved from the text campaigns stating “The first show was a family show and we got an excellent response...we will continue to use SMS for a range of special offers.”
Another key feature driving the popularity of text promotions within the Theatre sector is that it’s highly viral, capable of reaching much further than initial recipients alone. According to a report by The Mobile Marketing Magazine, it’s common for people to forward text promotions onto their friends, which results in even greater penetration for free. During the current economic climate people are keen to find bargains and receiving an attractive promotion by text could be the pulling power needed to get people through the doors.
The Ticket Sellers are using SMS to deliver e-tickets to customers who purchase tickets from the website for concerts, nightclubs entry, student nights and the e-ticket is sent directly to their phone. The service provides customers with instant reassurance that their transaction was successful.
Mo Page, a spokesperson for The Ticket Sellers claims the service is a big hit with customers stating “People carry their phones with them everywhere so that they never forget their tickets.”
Page continues “E-Tickets on handsets are useful as they eliminate the need for paper tickets...no need for people to carry paper to nightclubs or gigs.”
www.txtlocal.co.uk MD Darren Daws adds “Text messaging is such a useful marketing tool for entertainment businesses, targeting students and young people. This sector is notoriously difficult to reach, but the mobile is making it easier to tap into an audience that live by their mobiles.”
