London, UK (PRWEB) June 15, 2009 -- Alfresco Software, Inc., the leader in open source enterprise content management (ECM) solutions, today announced that the company's Web content management solution has been selected to power content management on TravelMuse.com, a next-generation interactive travel planning site. The online travel destination for finding inspiration and planning trips with friends and family,TraveMuse.com manages more than 350,000 documents and a wide range of content including original editorial, travel destination guides, point-of-interest information, reviews and compelling photography. TravelMuse wanted a cost-effective yet highly scalable WCM solution to manage large volumes of XML content, run on a Java-application server, and integrate seamlessly with Apache Lucene full-text search technology. Alfresco WCM was the only tool to meet all of these criteria, and as a result, played a key role in the redesign and upgrade of Travelmuse.com.

"We chose the Alfresco WCM solution while in the start-up stages and are pleased with the runtime performance, scalability and functionality that has been delivered at such low costs," said Cyril Bouteille, vice president of engineering at TravelMuse, Inc. "Beyond its content management capabilities, Alfresco was the clear choice based on its ability to extract document metadata for use by our back-end systems and improve the functionality of TravelMuse.com for consumers."

By utilizing Alfresco as part of its recent site redesign, TravelMuse is now able to bring original content to consumers in a more timely manner due to streamlined editing, versioning and publishing processes. With the increased ease of editing content outside of the software release cycle afforded by the Alfresco WCM system, TravelMuse can now also perform A/B testing of messaging, layouts and images on its landing pages.

"We are proud to be the WCM solution behind such an innovative and exciting Web venture," said John Powell, CEO of Alfresco Software. "We built our WCM platform with interactive, community driven Web 2.0 sites like TravelMuse.com in mind. To hear of the successes with this leading site is a testament to our solution's proficiency in laying the foundations for the Web sites and online communities of tomorrow."

Alfresco is the leading open source alternative for enterprise content management and the choice of Global 5000 with customers such as FedEx, Fox Broadcasting and Virgin Mobile. The Alfresco WCM solution allows companies to bring advanced user experiences to their Web sites and create rich communities around their products, all at a dramatically lower cost through the benefits of open source. Alfresco's WCM allows for rapid deployment of community-oriented sites, delivering highly scalable support for rich media and user-generated content, as well as rapid content updates to provide a fresh customer experience.
