"One Hour At A Time" to Interview Richard Broom on VoiceAmerica

Richard Broom joins host Mary Woods on June 22, 2009 to discuss his life journey and his upcoming book titled 'Cocked and Loaded'.

Host Mary Woods, of "One Hour At A Time" on VoiceAmerica's Health & Wellness Channel will be interviewing author Richard Broom. Broom will be discussing his story of substance abuse and how he survived. Broom was incarcerated and spent 359 days in the county jail while awaiting trial and sentencing. For approximately the next ten years, Broom remained in the Florida Department of Corrections. On March 9th, 1993, Broom was released on parole. He began to work in sales selling large ticket items, and then he began to work in the treatment industry in drug and alcohol rehabilitation. On January 1st, 1997, Broom began working as a therapist in a small treatment center in South Florida called Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches. Now, the center has grown into a well-respected treatment organization and has three separate treatment centers with over 150 beds. To this day, Broom remains at this center as a primary therapist. Richard is also a father of two daughters, Katelyn and Erica.

The book (Cocked and Loaded) will not be officially printed until November of 2009. The book is a man's journey (Richard Broom) through substance abuse (including prison time) into discovery and through continued recovery.
