Dr. Alan Drimmer comes to Western International University (WIU) from American InterContinental University (AIU), where he served for a number of years as Chief Executive Officer and President of AIU Online.
While at AIU, Dr. Drimmer oversaw six campuses in the United States and a campus in London, in addition to the online campus. During his tenure at AIU, Dr. Drimmer reestablished the institution's growth trajectory, re-energized its strategic planning and institutional effectiveness processes with a view toward strong student outcomes, and drove broad-based culture change initiatives among faculty and staff.
Before joining AIU, Dr. Drimmer led functions at several proprietary education ventures, including UNext/Cardean University, eCornell, and the Corporate Executive Board's Learning and Development Roundtable. Earlier in his career, Dr. Drimmer served as a management consultant in the Chicago office of McKinsey & Company, an official at the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, and a diplomat at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan.

Dr. Drimmer earned his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. At the University of Chicago, he earned a master's degree and PhD in Political Science and a bachelor's degree in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations. Dr. Drimmer also spent several years as a dissertation fellow at Harvard University's John M. Olin Center for Strategic Studies, where he received the Derek Bok Undergraduate Teaching Award.
