Austin, TX (PRWEB) June 16, 2009 -- Each month I Live Here, I Give Here shines light on an issue in the Central Texas community. This June, I Live Here, I Give Here speaks out about the pressing need for animal welfare support and is hosting an Animal Welfare Discussion on June 23 from 12 to 1pm at Frost Community Rm., 401 Congress, 11th Fl., $10, lunch included. The shocking number of homeless animals entering shelters in our community continues to grow, rising the need for generous donations to help animal welfare nonprofits increase the number of animals that leave the shelter alive.
Animal welfare advocates are determined to save animal lives in Central Texas. In 2009 they've already cut the number of animals euthanized by nearly 50 percent over the same period in 2008. The main focus is to reduce the number of animals entering community shelters and increase the number of animals that leave the shelters alive. Advocates are ultimately looking to establish Central Texas as a humane community where all adoptable animals can find a loving home.
Central Texas is full of animal lovers. Nearly 45 percent of Travis County homes have dogs, and nearly 30 percent have cats, totaling almost 600,000 four-legged pets. While many of us go to great lengths for our furry friends, others struggle due to high vet bills, lifestyle changes or pet behavior challenges. While "money can't buy love," it can ensure the dignity of each animal life and earn the adoration of a grateful furry companion.
To learn more about saving animal lives attend the Animal Welfare Discussion hosted by I Live Here, I Give Here on June 23, 12 to 1 pm at the Frost Tower Community Room, 401 Congress, 11th Floor. Lunch will be provided for $10. Please RSVP. Learn more by visiting our website at http://www.ilivehereigivehere.org.
I LIVE HERE, I GIVE HERE is on a mission to deepen and expand the culture of personal philanthropy in our community by inspiring Central Texans to give more and more Central Texans to give. We promote individual giving by educating Central Texans about the needs of our community and the nonprofits serving us. Our call to action is find the issue you care most about and give to become part of the solution.
