Building a New Community Takes Heart

How real estate developer Blake Twedt is making a difference

Brasstown, NC (PRWEB) June 17, 2009

Blake Twedt has spent more than two years patiently carving out a little piece of paradise nestled in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. And his vision of a community built upon giving rather than taking has now become a reality with the completion of Overlook Brasstown.

"I really believe that to whom much is given, much is expected," said Twedt. "At the end of the day, it's about what you have done for others that really matters."

In these hard economic times, Twedt knows what a powerful impact even just a small contribution can make on a community, and that's why he has joined forces with the local charities to help give back to the community he has spent so long creating.

The local area has been hit hard with the economy and the Food Banks in Clay and Cherokee County have been almost completely depleted. That's why, to celebrate the completion of this charming, upscale community, and to support the livelihood of its people, Twedt, and the community as a whole, are holding the town's first annual Music & Arts Festival. The proceeds of this exciting festival will go toward replenishing the food bank for the local community.

The festival will take place on Saturday, June 27 from 10 am to 4 pm, in Overlook Brasstown on John Mason Rd. The event is completely free and will feature the area's best food, music, culture, and art. Artists from North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida will be displaying their inspired wares, and the Barker Brothers Bluegrass Band is headlining the music bill along with several other talented entertainers.

The community is asking for canned donations, which can be delivered on the day of the event. For more information about how you can help this worthy cause and experience a festival like no other, visit http://www.overlookbrasstown.com.

About Overlook Brasstown
Built by real estate developer, Blake Twedt, Overlook Brasstown is a naturally handcrafted mountain-view community that has been more than 2 years in the making. Located between Murphy & Hayesville in the Brasstown community, the Overlook features log sided, timberframe and craftsman homes in a natural, green setting. Private 1-3 acre homesites with breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains are nestled in the forest, which has been under a conservation program since the 1950's.

Conservation measures were taken at every opportunity including silt fences, silt traps, matting banks, plunge pools, water breaks, and applying straw to protect the newly planted grass. As a member of the Hiwassee River Watershed Coalition, Overlook Brasstown makes every effort to protect the local environment.
