The need to teach children digital responsibility about the technologies they use is critical, so the end result of those actions does not have a negative impact at a crucial time in the future of our children's lives.
These two organizations dedicated to child safety have come together to increase education and awareness of the dangers posed by the current trends in technology. They have joined forces to proactively educate children and parents regarding the consequences of sexting, sextcasting, and the dangers of predators, cyberstalking and bullying.
Denise Pellow, founder of KidsBeSafeOnline LLC, and Richard Guerry, Executive Director and President of The Institute for Responsible Online and Cell-Phone Communication (I.R.O.C.2), bring personal experience in their unique approach to address the issues of digital safety.
Guerry, of Mount Laurel, NJ, communicates it is vital that everyone in our rapidly evolving digital generation, regardless of age, understand how extremely important it is to be digitally responsible and aware of what poor digital judgment can bring to the lives of youth.
To best serve the Institute's mission they use an interactive and unique approach in providing an effective new way of thinking when using digital technologies and demonstrate why it is necessary to employ the concept of "Responsibility 2.1C" or "21st century responsibility" by illustrating how quickly and easily poor online judgment can produce devastating consequences for years to come.
According to Guerry, "our generation must wake up and realize that we are all now part of a rapidly evolving 21st century digital generation, and we are each responsible for our own actions when using digital technologies."
Pellow, who specializes in the education of adults, says "our mission at http://www.KidsBeSafeOnline.com is to educate parents, teachers and the community on best practices as we develop our digital footprint and to be aware of what can happen before children make that decision to click send, post or upload."
By teaming together, KidsBeSafeOnline LLC and http://www.iroc2.org will make a very effective, comprehensive and proactive defense to protect and educate our children and their families by taking 21st century digital responsibility for their actions.
Pellow has also written a new book, The Five Dangerous Trends Concerning Kids, Technology and the Internet. This publication offers real life scenarios and solutions to keep children safe online and avoid the consequences that may arise from sexting and other current technology trends.
