SHEC Energy, an international company relocates its Canadian office to new headquarters. SHEC currently has offices in Canada and the United States.
SHEC had long outgrown its corporate headquarters and research center. This new larger facility will allow SHEC to start commercialization of its technology.
The new facility will host laboratories for ongoing product enhancement, a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machine shop for producing mechanical components, a welding shop, a super structure assembly area for building large scale solar arrays and a glass mirror forming operation to form the curved mirrors for the solar arrays.
The facility has two large 50 foot wide bay doors. This will allow large structures to be built and rolled out of the facility for testing prior to entering production.
SHEC's solar thermal technology can be applied to Point Focus dish systems suitable for power generation in the range of 25KW up to 5MW and larger scale Advanced Solar Towers for power generation in the range of 5MW to the GW range. SHEC's has also developed high temperature storage technology to provide up to 24 hours of power per day in areas with good solar conditions.
The Achilles heel to renewable energy is its intermittent production. This very much limits the opportunity for grid connect since electricity cannot be economically stored. SHEC's high temperature storage technology allows the thermal energy of the sun to be stored so it can produce electricity when the sun is not shining. This enables SHEC's technology to provide base-load power.
