Robert Neal Marshall portrays Captain Richard Phillips of the Maersk Alabama in Discovery Channel's "Somali Pirate Takedown The Real Story" which documents the dramatic events of the recent Somali Pirate Standoff that caught international attention. World Premiere Sunday, June 21st 2009 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on the Discovery Channel with an extended version premiere on Military Channel on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 9 PM ET.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 18, 2009 -- Just this past April the world watched as U.S. Navy Seals took out three Somali pirates who held hostage Captain Richard Phillips of the Maersk Alabama. Discovery Channel with the Military Channel have joined together for a world premiere broadcast special that, for the first time, tells the exciting and never before heard stories of what really happened out on the high seas.

Actor/Writer Robert Neal Marshall says "Kevin Spacey may end up playing Captain Phillips in the Feature Film, but it is an honor to be the first actor representing Phillips on television!". This dramatic documentary is packed with in-depth interviews with the real people, special new unseen footage and is a compelling look into the events that ended with a dramatic rescue.

Robert Neal Marshall has played leading roles in several projects for Discovery Channel, including a recurring role as Psychic Investigator John Zaffis in "A Haunting" and as Croatian political writer Pero Vucas in "FBI Files". He appeared in a lead as FDNY Captain Jay Jonas of the famous Ladder 6 team in the Emmy Nominated "Countdown to Ground Zero" for History Channel with appearances on "America's Most Wanted" and "Interpol Investigates". Other credits include Principal Snelgrove in Ken Davenport's Off-Broadway Interactive Comedy hit "Awesome 80's Prom", among others.

Mr. Marshall's musical "Rumpelstiltskin's Daughter", as writer/director and based on Diane Stanley's award winning book, was presented at the 2005 Edinburgh Festival at the Assembly Rooms in Scotland and was produced last year for THEATRE IV in Richmond, Va with new productions planned.

Connected to the sea in real life, Robert is also a Guest Lecturer with Cunard Insights® Enrichment Programme on board the Queen Mary 2. His recent documentary DVD "Three Queens - An International Rendezvous" about the 2008 rare meetings of all three Cunard ships (with exclusive footage of Queen Elizabeth 2's final New York departure and tandem crossing plus an emotional Titanic wreath ceremony on QE2 over the wreck site on the 96th anniversary of the sinking! ) is available online at www.3QueensDVD.com, via Amazon.com, and in the bookshops on board both Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria for Cunard. Robert will soon be working on a new documentary film project with performer/writer Rain Pryor.
