Canonical Certifies Ubuntu 9.04 Server Edition on Latest HP ProLiant Servers
Canonical collaborates with HP to deliver a high-performance, energy-efficient infrastructure for Ubuntu customers
London, UK (PRWEB) June 17, 2009 -- Canonical, the commercial sponsor of the Ubuntu project, today announced the successful certification of Ubuntu 9.04 Server Edition on the new HP ProLiant G6 servers. This extends Canonical's existing support of Ubuntu Server Edition on the HP ProLiant servers to 17 configurations, enabling Ubuntu users to run their business applications on the world's most energy-efficient servers. It also ensures that users can adopt an open platform in their businesses without compromising on their hardware options.
The certification of the HP ProLiant G6 servers for Ubuntu 9.04 Server Edition is the result of extensive testing at the Canonical labs. Canonical has also changed the designation for all tested HP servers from validated to certified, reflecting the verification of results by HP. Additionally, HP will release the ProLiant Support Pack for Ubuntu, which includes agents, drivers, and utilities that can enhance the manageability of Ubuntu server on HP ProLiant servers.
