Global Security Intelligence Awarded Contract for Long Lasting Memories Project

Global Security Intelligence (http://www.globalseci.com) was awarded a contract as part of a consortium which is integrating and delivering an innovative and robust service solution for the management of cognitive and physical health for the elderly. The 11-member consortium will pilot the Long Lasting Memories (LLM) solution in five European countries (Austria, France, Greece, Spain, UK).

London, UK (PRWEB) June 20, 2009 -- Global Security Intelligence (GSI) was awarded a contract as part of a consortium which is integrating and delivering an innovative and robust service solution for the management of cognitive and physical health for the elderly. The 11-member consortium will pilot the Long Lasting Memories (LLM) solution in five European countries (Austria, France, Greece, Spain, UK). LLM is a 30-month project, selected for funding by the European Commission under the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (ICT PSP/2008/1) which aims to integrate and deliver an effective programme for the enhancement of physical and cognitive health in the elderly, enabling them to live an independent, healthy lifestyle.

The LLM Project was launched last week with a kick-off meeting held in Corfu, Greece on 9-10 June as the consortium partners met to coalesce their efforts to rapidly integrate physical and cognitive exercise systems into a single solution focused upon enhancing the ability of the elderly user to live an independent and healthy lifestyle. The LLM system will incorporate elements of environment and health monitoring systems, along with cognitive exercise software and physical exercise equipment. The project will include an extensive pilot testing period in Austria, France, Greece, Spain, and the UK, where it is expected that over 750 users will participate in the programme. The pilot will be deployed in different settings, including home environments, day care centres, and formal care facilities.

The LLM project is scheduled to be completed over the course of the next 30 months, and will include efforts to test not only the technology and related procedures for use, but also the effectiveness of the solution for the users as gauged by pre-pilot and post-pilot medical screenings and assessments as well as detailed feedback on the product directly from the users. As part of this project, GSI will in particular focus upon issues related to pilot programme methodology. Each pilot will be conducted within a framework established by relevant national laws and regulations, but will also align to standards and procedures developed for the project ranging from technology use and training, data collection and reporting to ensure data quality, and the ethical conduct of the pilot.
