Salinas, California (PRWEB) June 23, 2009 -- Sculptor Susan Hershey creates Sculpt My Dog LLC. , a company specializing in one of a kind custom ceramic dog caricatures using photographs of dogs. The sculptures are commissioned works for people who desire a piece of art which resembles their dog. The caricatures are often life size depending on the size of the breed and can be up to 30 inches in height. See examples at http://sculptmydog.com/.

The artist has been making dog sculptures for years as a hobby. She created several sculptures for charity auctions for the local high school and college. Her sculptures became popular in the local area. She was often approached for commissioned work but was not interested in selling her work. Eventually, at the urging of her family and friends she started her new business, Sculpt My Dog.

The premise of the business is that art/dog lover's commission a sculpture of their dog which is made after photographs of their dog are submitted to the artist. Photographs can be mailed or uploaded on the website, http://sculptmydog.com/. The finished works are individually hand made by the artist and take several weeks to complete. The pieces are unique and not multiply produced. There are very few artists in the world that offer such a service.

The persons commissioning the work are allowed to give their input with regard to specific features and pose of the sculpture. Susan then uses her artistic impression to make the finished piece. The artist Susan Hershey says "I feel that I have a connection with the dogs and can capture their unique personalities in my sculptures".
