According to the US Drug Watchdog, "on June 16th 2009, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration advised consumers to stop using products marketed over-the-counter as cold remedies because they are associated with the loss of sense of smell (anosmia). Anosmia may be long-lasting or permanent. The products include: Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Gel, Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs and Zicam Cold Remedy Swabs, Kids Size (a discontinued product)." The US Drug Watchdog wants to hear from any US consumer who has lost their sense of smell because of use of these products, by calling 866-714-6466, or by contacting the group via its web site at Http://USDrugWatchdog.Com.

"Loss of sense of smell is a serious risk for people who use these products for relief from cold symptoms," said Janet Woodcock, M.D., director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER). "We are concerned that consumers may unknowingly use a product that could cause serious harm, and therefore we are advising them not to use these products for any reason."

People who have experienced a loss of sense of smell, or other problems after use of the Zicam products mentioned by the FDA, should contact the US Drug Watchdog immediately at 866-714-6466, or contact the group's web site at http://USDrugWatchdog.Com.

The loss of sense of smell can adversely affect a person's quality of life, and can limit the ability to detect the smell of gas or, smoke, or other signs of danger in the environment. According to the US Drug Watchdog, "losing your sense of smell is a really big deal, and we intend to get to the bottom of this."

The US Drug Watchdog is all about protecting innocent US consumers from what could be dangerous drugs, or pharmaceuticals.

Note to personal injury attorneys & class action law firms: The US Drug Watchdog still has a burning passion to advance their investigation of the drug called Trasylol. If you Google Trasylol national investigation, they come up number one. For more information, please call the US Drug Watchdog at 866-714-6466.
