Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 22, 2009 -- It may be nearly 20 years since Janet Hubert-Whitten co-starred with Will Smith on the hit NBC sitcom 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" -- but in her new book, "Perfection Is Not a Sitcom Mom," her recollections of working alongside a young Smith is anything but good.

Based on an exclusive interview with EURweb publisher Lee Bailey, Janet Hubert, who originated the role of "Aunt Viv" aka "Vivian Banks" before she was dropped from the cast amidst a shroud of mystery in the third season; and replaced by Daphne Maxwell-Reid, gives readers an earful as she describes Smith as more of an egotistical tyrant than the sweet, loving, family man and movie star audiences have come to know and love. At one point in the interview she tells Bailey:
"Quincy (Jones) called me. He (Smith) doesn't know this but I asked Quincy: 'Quincy, why is this happening?" Quincy said, 'Lord, lord, I told him not to do this … The karma on the show is going to be terrible.'" -- Janet Hubert
The two-part article includes audio excerpts from the actual interview, and will conclude on Wednesday, June 24th. Journalist DeBorah B. Pryor, who penned the feature, writes:
"Without so much as a stutter, Hubert, who at times seemed to be near tears, uses the one-hour, eight minutes and fifteen seconds telephone interview to reveal vivid details of her claims against Smith; which include verbal and mental abuse on the set, hypocrisy, excessive egoism, blatant resentment, the insensitive spewing of 'your mama's so black' jokes, and ultimately, public slander - which Hubert says kept her from getting projects green-lighted and has banned her from work in the field she used to love."
The baritone-voiced Bailey, who audiences know from the long running "RadioScope: The Entertainment Magazine on the Air" program comments, "I didn't have to ask many questions at all. It was like she had all this pinned-up inside of her; just waiting for an ear to receive it. I was amazed at the bombshells she kept dropping. Really, it was fascinating. I could've listened for hours."
