Acra, NY (PRWEB) June 25, 2009 -- Canine Club Getaway, the only all-inclusive Catskills resort vacation where the dog is an integral part of the fun, launches its inaugural Getaway this fall. Scheduled for September 10-13 in Acra, NY, Canine Club Getaway will bring together dog lovers and their pups with top trainers and behavioral experts, dog sport instructors, a veterinarian and other dog professionals for a fun-filled weekend extravaganza.
Canine Club Getaway's costume contest is fun for everyone! Here, Oliver plays Superman to ace reporter Lois "Molasses" Lane.
"No dog left behind," is the motto of this unique vacation experience, which founders Janice Costa and David and Carole Kralstein describe as "a vacation paradise for dogs and dog lovers."
Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a host of dog-related activities, classes and seminars including agility, lure coursing, frisbee, flyball, rally obedience, hiking, swimming (and yes, dogs are allowed IN the pool with you!), scent detection, prep classes for the Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog tests, "barks and crafts" and more. Those who want to venture into town can enjoy nearby golfing, antique shopping, boating and fishing.
But while dog-day afternoons are half the fun at CCG, taking your dog on vacation doesn't mean you have to "ruff" it, according to Costa and Kralstein.
"When you're not playing with your dog, you'll enjoy heated and air conditioned rooms with cable TV, wi-fi on the premises, delicious gourmet meals by a renowned chef, formerly of NYC's Russian Tea Room, Yappy Hour by the pool and nightly entertainment that runs the gamut from live music and dancing to karaoke," Costa notes.
"We're all about making sure the people and their pups feel pampered, because that's really what a vacation is all about," adds David Kralstein.
Passionate supporters of animal charities and rescue groups, Costa and Kralstein are also partnering with local animal groups to help raise funds to support these organizations. "For every guest who comes to us referred by an animal charity or rescue group, we will donate $25 to that group, and will make them one of the beneficiaries of our Silent Auction. We'll also distribute their literature to our guests to help raise awareness about their organization," they note.
While some might argue that this is the wrong time to be starting a business, Costa and Kralstein adamantly disagree.
"It might seem counter-intuitive to launch a dog-friendly vacation business during a recession, but let's face it, in tough times, many of us desperately need a vacation to de-stress - and if you're a dog lover, leaving your dog behind is stressful. This way, you can have your vacation, and enjoy time with your best friend, too!" says Costa.
"People say 'life is short,' and this is doubly true for our beloved pets. So we believe it's important to seize the moment - or the frisbee, or the tennis ball - and really enjoy the precious time we're given with our four-legged friends," she adds.
"Our three dogs are like our children, and a vacation without them just isn't a vacation," says Carole Kralstein.
"We know so many people whose dogs are an important part of their family, and they don't want to leave them behind when they go away," David Kralstein adds. "But they still want to enjoy a vacation where they can kick back, relax, be pampered and have fun. So Canine Club Getaway offers the best of both worlds!"
Kralstein and Costa encourage dog lovers to make this a special gift to their dog, and state that attendees who sign up prior to July 1 will receive an Early Bird-Dog Discount.
