This event celebrates this generation's musical accomplishments through the launch of e'Dijene Records; The Savoy Group Intl' Inc.,presents the 1st Annual Liberia Music Festival, which will be taking place on the eighteenth of July (July 18, 2009) in Monrovia, Liberia. The festival showcases more than 13 of the best Hip Hop and Reggae artists from East and West Africa to celebrate music from this generation and launch of e'Dijene Records:
The 2009 Liberia Music Festival will feature performances by Ghana's renowned artist, Ofori Amponsah, 2008 MTV Africa Music Award winners Wahu and Nameless from Kenya, 2008 Kisma Award Winner Amani, from Kenya, and some home-grown Liberian talent, namely Bawah, Mighty Mighty MVP, Detrench, J-UN, Seabreeze, Nasseman, Blue Jenky, Power, and Soul Mate. The Savoy Group Intl., Inc., is also pleased to announce a special appearance from AB Swaray, a renowned Liberian Raggae artist who broke into international stardom in the Ivory Coast.
The Savoy Group Intl' is also committed to supporting local causes in the arts, sports and education.
As such, the festival has pledged to assist the Liberia National Museum's in its work to educate Liberians through the preservation of our heritage. In addition, support will be provided for the training and athletic developments of Liberia's premiere female track star Cynthia Bee, to serve as an inspiration to young women throughout the nation and continent. We invite celebrities, national and community leaders to support these causes while enjoying in the festivities.
With the support from our dedicated partners and sponsors, The Savoy Group's Intl' Inc., 2009 Liberia Music Festival; will make "Savoy Intl' Supports The Arts" the nation's leading initiative in support of African artists.
Sponsors and contest winners of the Festival are welcome to participate in daytime activities in addition to the evening's concert. This includes the Savoy Group Intl' Inc., Marketplace, a distinctive exhibition of high quality African Art and Fine Crafts. It reflects the rich cultural heritage found throughout the African continent and Diaspora. The Marketplace will also include celebrity meet-and-greets, festival souvenirs and interactive sponsor presentations.
