PDMA Certification Program Reaches New Heights 1000th New Product Development Professional Certification Granted

The Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) Certification Committee is pleased to announce the achievement of a major milestone. The 1000th New Product Development Professional (NPDP) Certification was granted to Wanda Janes, a product director for First Data Corporation.

Mount Laurel, N.J. (PRWEB) June 30, 2009 -- The Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) Certification Committee is pleased to announce the achievement of a major milestone. The 1000th New Product Development Professional (NPDP) Certification was granted to Wanda Janes, a product director for First Data Corporation.

The NPDP Certification confirms mastery of new product development principles and best practices, enabling continual improvement in job performance and helping corporations identify those individuals with the knowledge and experience to move into leadership positions in the area of new product development. To qualify for NPDP Certification, candidates must meet the necessary criteria in education, experience and knowledge, and pass a comprehensive examination.

"The Certification program began in 2000 with an initial group of 17 that took the first test," said Bill Kelleher, PDMA Vice President of Certification. "There are now 1,000 certified professionals across the US, Canada, Europe and Asia Pacific. We're extremely proud of the growth of the program. PDMA certified product developers are now found at 75 of the Fortune 500, thus providing innovation leadership to a broad spectrum of companies."

Once NDPD Certification has been obtained, a certificant must acquire 60 Professional Development Hours (PDH) every three years to qualify for recertification. These PDH credits can be achieved in a variety of ways including attendance at PDMA and other conferences.

The Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) is the foremost advocate and comprehensive resource for product development and innovation professionals in the United States and abroad. The association is dedicated to improving the effectiveness of individuals and organizations in product development and management. More than 3,500 members worldwide take advantage of PDMA's well-integrated combination of resources encompassing professional development, education, networking, collaboration, certification, and recognition.
