The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting Announce Details of its Annual Convention in Boston, August 8-12, 2009

A four-day event for professionals and students pursuing careers in finance and accounting that includes workshops, networking events, luncheons and dinner gala. Over 2,000 expected to attend the 4-day event that will include a career fair with close to 100 companies participating.

With our theme of Winning Traditions, Gateway to Success, we plan to bring a high caliber event full of opportunities for both professionals, students, and local businesses.

The Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) has announced details of its 2009 Annual Convention. The convention, the organization's thirty-seventh, will be held August 8-12 in Boston. Lead sponsor of the event is KPMG, with welcoming presenting sponsor, State Street. Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, will join ALPFA in welcoming attendees at the Welcome Reception on Saturday, August 8th. The Governor of Massachusetts has been invited to attend the Annual Awards Gala where ALPFA recognizes six ALPFA members for their talent and outstanding contributions to the organization.

"Boston is a beautiful city, and home to our largest chapter," said ALPFA National CEO, Manny Espinoza. "With our theme of Winning Traditions, Gateway to Success, we plan to bring a high caliber event full of opportunities for both professionals, students, and local businesses."

The four-day event will include educational workshops, a student track, networking receptions, student scholarships, a full day dedicated to our women's initiative program (Women of ALPFA), a career fair, and awards gala. Events will take place at three hotels adjacent to the Convention Center. The career fair will be held at the Hynes Convention Center.

Workshops: Attendees can earn CPE credits while brushing up on the technical aspects of the industry in workshops presented by top professionals. Workshop topics include:

  •     Launching Your Career in Financial Services
  •     Investing Tips in an Unsteady Environment
  •     Interviewing: Making a Strong Impression
  •     Marketing Yourself to Recruiters
  •     Understanding What Happened to the Credit Markets

Career Fair:
ALPFA dedicates a full day to the Career Fair, bringing in a host of companies looking to connect with professional, talented individuals. Participating companies include KPMG, State Street Corporation, Deloitte, Boeing, The Walt Disney Company, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, Marriott, GE, Prudential and Microsoft.
