With the current economic climate in the condition that it's in, it's important that industry executives, whether they're operators, suppliers, distributors, or consultants be armed with the latest data available in order to make informed decisions
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 1, 2009 -
Nation's Restaurant News has published its annual ranking of the top restaurant chains - the Top 100 report. The 36th edition of this industry benchmark is the first installment of a comprehensive, two-part study generated through exclusive research by the editors of the publication.
The Top 100 report, the forthcoming Second 100 report (July 27th) and the Top 200 DataFiles (August), provide a detailed, brand-by-brand assessment and three-year performance comparison of individual restaurant organizations that together tally nearly 42% of the entire $566 billion U.S. consumer foodservice market.
The report will help all industry players better understand today's changing marketplace. Operators can track competitors, target growing franchise opportunities and monitor segment trends. The Top 100 report also will help suppliers identify new customers, develop targeted sales and marketing strategies, and target opportunities that would provide the best potential ROI. NRN's report is the industry's best reference for anyone looking for the most comprehensive statistical information on the restaurant industry and the major chains and parent companies that populate it.
"With the current economic climate in the condition that it's in, it's important that industry executives, whether they're operators, suppliers, distributors, or consultants be armed with the latest data available in order to make informed decisions," says Tom Larranaga, NRN's Publisher. "The Top 100 and related products are analytical tools that can help define which chain concepts and market segments are prospering or struggling and where consumers are spending their dining dollars."
This year's Top 100 reveals that the fastest growth chains, ranked by increases in systemwide sales, were: Chipotle, Buffalo Wild Wings, Zaxby's, Subway and Panera Bread. The top five growth chains as ranked by total system unit growth were: Chipotle, Panda Express, Jason's Deli, Buffalo Wild Wings and Zaxby's.
The Top 100 research also showed that corporate revenue growth was driven mostly by acquisitions, as the top five companies, as ranked by increases in revenue, were: DineEquity Inc., Blackstone Group LP, gategroup, Texas Pacific Group and LRI Holdings, all of which had recently acquired restaurant operations.
In August, Nation's Restaurant News will release the Top 200 DataFiles - an interactive database that combines the information found in the Top 100 and Second 100 reports and presents them in a single, user-friendly Excel document. In addition to instant access to both reports, combined and at a glance, key features include, information not found in the print product, links to all 200 chains websites, and the ability to sort by a variety of performance measures.
