Hercules of the Revolution Comes To Life

Travis Bowman, author of Hercules of the Revolution, is releasing his new novel based on the life of Peter Francisco at Williamsburg, Virginia on July 4th.

Yorktown, VA (PRWEB) July 8, 2009 -- Travis Bowman released his novel this week called Hercules of the Revolution (http://www.herculesoftherevolution.com) which is based on the life of Peter Francisco. Robert Whitlow, bestselling author and film producer, called Mr. Bowman's book "the American Braveheart story", and David Appleby, President General of Sons of the American Revolution, called it "enjoyable to read and historically accurate".

Peter Francisco was arguably the tallest and strongest soldier to fight in the Revolutionary War and became known as the "Hercules of the Revolution". Francisco was 6'6", weighed 260 pounds, and fought with a 6' broadsword that George Washington had specially forged for him.

Mr. Bowman is a 6th generation descendant standing the same height as Peter Francisco, and he has been performing dramatic impersonations with a replica 6' broadsword for a couple of years now. Check his website for locations and details.

Peter's story is an untold epic legend from the Revolution. At the age of five, Francisco was kidnapped by pirates from his affluent family in the Azores Islands, dropped of at a dock in Virginia, and raised as a slave on a plantation. By the age of 16, Peter stood a foot taller then the average man, but his skin color had him trapped at the bottom of society in the New World. After falling in love with a girl from a wealthy family, Peter realizes that he will never marry the woman of his dreams unless he is free. Driven with passion for freedom he joined the Continental Army after hearing Patrick Henry's famous words, "Give me liberty or give me death!" His owner, Judge Winston, releases him from slavery to fight for freedom, and he becomes famous throughout the colonies for his extraordinary strength, bravery, and courage on the battlefield.

"Without him, we would have lost two crucial battles, perhaps the war, and with it our freedom," said George Washington. "He was truly a one-man army."

Travis Bowman's book Hercules of the Revolution is available on Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, or at his website http://www.HerculesoftheRevolution.com.
