Susan Lawrence MD, Executive director of The Catalyst Foundation and author of the award winning book, "Creating a Healing Society: The Impact of Human Emotional Pain and Trauma on Society and the World (Elite Books, 2006) to appear on "The Lioness Tale: Awakening the Liberating Spirit" with Diane Pendola on the VoiceAmerica Talk Radio Network.

Modavox, Inc. (OTCBB:MDVX - News), Internet broadcasting pioneer, producing and syndicating online audio and video, today announced that the creator of the transformational program "Creating a Healing society" and author of the book of the same name, Susan Lawrence MD, will join Diane Pendola (http://www.ecocontemplative.org) host of "The Lioness Tale: Awakening the Liberating Spirit" radio program on 7th Wave Network (http://www.modavox.com/7thwavenetwork) Wednesday, July 8th, at 4:00 pm Pacific.

"While we are accustomed to thinking about the impact of trauma on the individual, most of us are unaware of the dramatic effect that unresolved trauma and difficult life experiences have on society and the world," says Susan Lawrence, MD, founder of The Catalyst Foundation and author of "Creating a Healing Society: The Impact of Human Emotional Pain and Trauma on Society and the World".

On this radio show, based on Diane's book, "The Lioness Tale," Susan and Diane will be discussing the adverse effects of childhood trauma within the fabric of society. Among other things, they will be discussing the ACE study (Adverse Childhood Experiences), perhaps the largest scientific study of its kind, analyzing the relationship between multiple categories of childhood trauma (ACEs), and health and behavioral outcomes later in life. The experience of imprisonment in "The Lioness Tale" (an allegorical story of a young lioness forced to live her life in captivity) can be viewed metaphorically as both inner and outer: inner, in the sense that unconscious behaviors, driven by early childhood trauma, imprison us and bar us from our feelings, creativity, joy, compassion and passion for life; outer, in the sense that society creates institutions that continue cycles of abuse. Prisons might be the clearest example. Yet, not only prisons, but many of our social structures institutionalize unconscious projections of our collective psyche in negative ways. By awakening the liberating spirit within, not only our individual lives are healed, but also society as a whole.

"My true mission," Susan says, "which I put into practice through Catalyst's Creating a Healing Society (CHS) program, is to bring about transformational societal change, which will, one day, result in a world not driven by trauma."

Susan Lawrence, M.D., Founder and Executive Director, The Catalyst Foundation is a native of Brooklyn, New York, Susan Lawrence entered Barnard College at the age of 14 to escape a troubled family. She was inspired and mentored by Christian Barnard, the South African surgeon who performed the world's first human heart transplant. Susan entered Baylor College of Medicine at 18. A rotation in medical oncology drew her to work with the terminally ill. She became a board certified internist and medical oncologist and opened her practice of medical oncology in Lancaster, California, in 1985.

When many local doctors declined to treat people living with AIDS, Susan welcomed those patients into her practice. In 1992 she and her husband, Sonny Bartz (who passed on due to AIDS the following year), launched The Catalyst Foundation (http://www.thecatalyst-foundation.org). Susan closed her private medical practice and became Catalyst's full time Executive Director; currently, in addition to the Creating a Healing Society program, Catalyst provides free medical care and supportive services to low-income, uninsured, and homeless people, especially those living with HIV and/or Hepatitis C. Susan is grateful to have been able to use the difficulties of her life to be of service to others through the development of The Catalyst Foundation, especially the Creating a Healing Society program. Her book, Creating a Healing Society: The Impact of Human Emotional Pain and Trauma on Society and the World (Elite Books, 2006), is an Eric Hoffer Book Award winner, a Foreword Magazine Book of the Year, a Nautilus Book Award Silver Winner, and an Independent Publisher Magazine Highlighted Title (http://creatingahealingsociety.org).

ABOUT Diane Pendola:
Diane Pendola is the Director and Co-founder of Skyline Harvest, an Eco-Contemplative Center dedicated to fostering awareness of the sacred throughout our human community and the natural world. She is the author of The Lioness Tale and the popular online journal Earthlines (http://www.ecocontemplative.org). From her time pursuing a degree in cross-cultural Religions to a Master's in Theology and Pastoral Ministry, she has been compelled to take the principles of love, compassion and kindness, fundamental to every spiritual tradition, and put them into practice. This led her to an act of civil disobedience, protesting nuclear weapons, which provided her with an inside look at our prison system. She has since committed her life to helping people, both inside and outside of prison, to access the spirit of liberation within them. In order to be an ever more trustworthy mentor and transparent window to this liberating spirit she has sought her own transformation through prayer and meditation, hypnotherapy, Gestalt Awareness Practice and the Enneagram, all of which she now teaches and practices in her life and work. She has created an in-prison transformational program based on her book The Lioness Tale, that complements this radio show. Her message is that Love can transform what the absence of love created. She knows all things are possible through the Love that resides at the center of our expanding universe and at the center of our human hearts. http://thelionesstale.com.
