'100% Tunisian' Olive Oil Showcased at the Summer Fancy Food Show

The Tunisian Ministry of Industry and PACKTEC combined to present 100% Tunisian olive oil to buyers at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City. The introduction of the group of manufacturers represents a response to growing demand in the US specialty food market for Tunisian oil's unique flavor profile.

The show was a success as retailers enjoyed the flavorful dishes and discussed the quality differences found in Tunisian products. As US consumers integrate the health benefits of the popular Mediterranean Diet into their eating habits, including the daily consumption of olive oil, demand for superior oil will rise and '100% Tunisian' olive oil will be there to satisfy all palates.

"We're delighted so many people were able to taste these delicious flavors," says Packtec coordinator Lémia Thabet. "You can taste the delicate flavor of Tunisian olive oil and understand why it's so important to our culinary experience. Plus, olive oil is so healthy for the body, a great combination!"

The exhibiting olive oil producers included Huilerie Loued, CHO, La Vierge, and a collective of smaller growers and producers. Tunisian television celebrity chef, Rafik Tlatli, was onsite throughout the show to prepare traditional Tunisia dishes of couscous, calamari, vegetables and fish -- all, of course, featuring 100% Tunisian olive oil. Mr. Tlatli also prepared festive and flavorful platters for the VIP reception held at the booth Sunday evening on June 28th. Exhibitors were joined by a number of people who gathered to taste and learn more about olive oil from Tunisia, and sample the classic Mediterranean dishes.
