Irving, Texas (PRWEB) July 9, 2009

First Choice Power donated $50,000 to the Texas League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) to sponsor Hispanic education and leadership programs, events and conferences across the state.

First Choice Power and LULAC joined forces in 2007 to educate Texas consumers on energy efficiency and energy savings and to support Hispanic community development. The retail electric provider provides ongoing financial support for LULAC's community efforts.

"Thanks to the generous contribution from First Choice Power, this year we will use the funds they donated for LULAC education, leadership and economic development events, conferences and programs," said Joey Cárdenas, director of Texas LULAC.

The sponsorship will help LULAC meet its program goals and enhance its leadership programs across Texas, he added.

Collaborating with LULAC is part of First Choice Power's initiative to facilitate education and access to all Texans, said Andres Reyes, director of Hispanic marketing for First Choice Power.

"At First Choice Power, we firmly believe that education is the foundation for our Hispanic community's advancement," Reyes added. "That is why every year we support different initiatives and projects that support our youth in helping them complete their education and progress. As part of such effort we support LULAC, who has done a great job in assisting our youth in finishing their high-school and fostering the pursuit of a college degree."

First Choice Power is now accepting online applications for First Choice Power Classroom Energy Innovation Grants until Sept. 15.
