Torrance, CA (PRWEB) July 12, 2009
iCRco, the Innovative CR Company just completed it's first install of an iCR3600 computed radiography system aboard the Coast Guard Cutter HEALY (WAGB - 20) prior to its voyage on July 7th, 2009.
The digital radiography system was installed on the HEALY which is one of the newest and most technologically advanced polar ice breakers. The ship is designed to conduct a wide range of research activities, providing more than 4,200 square feet of scientific laboratory space, numerous electronic sensor systems, oceanographic winches, and accommodations for up to 50 scientists. HEALY is designed to break 4 ½ feet of ice continuously at three knots and can operate in temperatures as low as -50 degrees F. The science community provided invaluable input on lab lay-outs and science capabilities during design and construction of the ship. At a time when scientific interest in the Arctic Ocean basin is intensifying, HEALY substantially enhances the United States Arctic research capability.
As a Coast Guard cutter, HEALY is also a capable platform for supporting other potential missions in the polar regions, including logistics, search and rescue, ship escort, environmental protection, and enforcement of laws and treaties.
"Placing one of our CR machines on the Coast Guard Cutter HEALY is an honor and we are pleased to continue the expansion of our relationship with the United States government. iCRco's new Military Division's purpose is to supply and service our existing contracts whilst forging relationships with new branches of the government and armed forces. Our portable VertX CR machines are now globally deployed in places where American soldiers are on the front lines such as Iraq and Afghanistan. Addition of the Coast Guard installation is a very proud moment for iCRco" stated Mark Valentine, President and COO of iCRco.
In testing iCRco's CR products maintained superior system performance under harsh conditions like the HEALY will encounter. iCRco installed the iCR3600 digital radiography unit on board prior to 4th of July. The Contract between the United States Coast Guard and iCRco Military Division was managed by Greg Wachtler while installation and training was conducted by Gregory Turner.
