Dantel Releases Heartbeat Timer Feature for PointMaster Eagle
New feature provides confirmation of alarm continuity and keeps a pulse on a network
Fresno, Calif. (PRWEB) July 14, 2009 -- Dantel, Inc., the leader in network surveillance and management systems, today announced the general availability of its Heartbeat Timer as part of its PointMaster Eagle product family. This new feature within Dantel's communications network management system provides confirmation of alarm continuity and keeps a pulse on a network.
Dantel's Heartbeat Timer can be associated with any PointMaster alarm point, but has user adjustable timing when connecting to any of the eight configurable filtering points that are included with every PointMaster unit.
"Many carrier and enterprise networks use powerful network management software, but it is rare that the full capabilities of that software are put to use. Autonomously reported alarms, unlike polled protocols, sometimes leave information gaps as to whether the network and the alarm device itself are still working," said Jerry Prochaska, Dantel's Sales Vice President, East. "For example, during initial start up and burn in of new equipment, you may want to use the five minute default setting After successful operations for some initial weeks, less frequent heartbeat messages might provide the required confirmation of network and PointMaster Eagle continuing operation."
Without physically touching the PointMaster unit or the timer this feature allows network managers to increase the interval to any multiple of 5 minutes, up to 80 total minutes between PointMaster generated heartbeat messages. Custom timer intervals are also available.
The Heartbeat Timer is part of all PointMaster Eagle units after June 1, 2009. A Heartbeat Timer kit is available for all clients that want to retrofit existing PointMaster Eagles. Field installation is easy and can be accomplished in minutes.
