Pharos Systems Launches Blueprint Enterprise 4.1 with Policy Print

Pharos Systems today announced the launch of version 4.1 of Pharos Blueprint® Enterprise with Policy Print™, a new application that enables companies to easily create, communicate, and enforce policies to reduce printing costs and waste.

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) July 15, 2009 -- Pharos Systems International today announced the launch of version 4.1 of Pharos Blueprint® Enterprise, the industry-leading print management software for corporate enterprises.

Blueprint Enterprise 4.1 includes Policy Print™, a new application that enables companies to easily create, communicate, and enforce policies to reduce printing costs and waste. Policy Print analyzes every print job that employees submit. If a job is not compliant with company printing policies, Policy Print pops up a message on the employee's computer. It could be a suggestion, a warning, or a job cancellation notice, depending upon the seriousness of the violation. Users who receive a warning may go ahead and print the job, but only after acknowledging that it's a policy exception that will be logged and reported.

For example, companies can use Policy Print to encourage employees to print documents 2-sided, make them think carefully about printing large color documents on a desktop inkjet printer, or block them from printing e-mail messages or web pages in color. Different policies can be created for different groups of employees to recognize variations in job functions.

Blueprint Enterprise ships with a set of printing rules that address the most common uneconomical printing practices. Companies can easily customize them to meet their individual objectives for saving money and printing greener.

To enable management to measure the effectiveness of their printing policy deployment, Blueprint Enterprise 4.1 includes a number of new reports:

  • Policy Waste Savings: shows the direct cost savings from cancellation of jobs violating policy.

  • Cost of Policy Violations: reports on the cost of activity performed in violation of policy. The number of jobs, volume and supply cost incurred are reported for each policy.

  • Policy Violations - Top X Employees: shows the employees who have the largest contribution to the cost of policy violations. The results can be sorted by cost or volume.

  • Cost Awareness Mailer: a monthly report e-mailed to employees showing how much they printed and what it cost the company, broken out by B&W vs. color and network vs. local printing. Reports can be sent to all employees, or just to those who printed the most.

Paul van Wichen, Product Manager for Blueprint Enterprise, said, "Pharos has over 17 years of experience managing user printing behaviors, and we've learned that the best way to reduce printing costs is to partner with people and empower them to make smarter printing decisions. With Policy Print, companies can change employees' printing behavior overnight and therefore realize immediate cost savings."
