The world's funniest comedian has been identified using patent-pending stand-up comedy evaluation software.

Who is the funniest comedian in the world? According to comedy evaluation software inventor Steve Roye, that title belongs squarely to Native American comedian J. R. Redwater, who will be featured in an upcoming Showtime comedy special in November 2009.

Roye recently reviewed an uncut/unedited 8:49 minute YouTube video of comedian J. R. Redwater at the comedian's request. Redwater's PAR Score (Positive Audience Response) was an amazing 62, meaning that 62% of Redwater's time on stage in this video was laughter, cheering or applause.

"I don't consider subjective attributes when evaluating comedians for their true laughter power" states Roye. "I evaluate the average number of seconds of laughter a comedian can generate for every minute they are on stage using my software. In simple terms, it's really just "talk time" vs. "laugh time".

According to Roye, a PAR Score of 50 for any comedian is very rare. The highest PAR Score Roye had recorded before Redwater was Bill Cosby with a PAR Score of 54. Redwater's lowest PAR Score after three separate evaluations was 62.

The patent pending comedy evaluation software used for PAR Score determination is provided as a part of Roye's educational resources for professional comedians.
