Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 15, 2009
Dr. Richard David Hames, perhaps best known for pioneering Deep Design (a groundbreaking approach to collective wisdom based on the integral nature of complexity science and living systems) joins host John Schmidt on VoiceAmerica's ZOOM'D Leadership on Monday, July 20 at 2 p.m. Eastern to explore "what authentic leaders know and what we all need to find out" in a show titled Escape Velocity for Global Leadership.
Widely considered one of the world's most innovative intellectuals, Hames reviews research about how the leadership we need today must start from a different consciousness and be supported by development that varies from typical approaches. He describes that, to break free from the current gravitational pull of traditional influences and paradigms, we must frame leadership from a deeper interior state of being, rather than focusing on psychological assessments and behaviors as its starting point. Leadership involves an "awakening" to the five literacies, which calls for foundational shifts, not just simple reframing in terms of our current rational-centric world.
Working at the interface between organizations and society, Hames serves as an adviser and leadership strategist to governments, institutions and multinational corporations. He is currently Distinguished Professor and Founding Director of the Asian Foresight Institute at Dhurakij Pundit University in Bangkok, President of the Hames Group (a distributed think-tank and design laboratory comprising thought leaders from all fields of human endeavor), and lead strategist to the State of the World Forum. He serves as personal mentor to presidents, heads of state, and some of the world's most innovative CEOs.
Hames is author of three best-sellers (The Management Myth: Exploring the Essence of Future Organizations, Burying the Twentieth Century: New Paths for New Futures, and The Five Literacies of Global Leadership) and contributed to Rewiring Organizations for the Networked Economy. He is currently working on Entangled Freedom: A Complexity Primer for the Singapore government.
ZOOM'D Leadership, which airs at 2 to 3 p.m. Eastern, 11 a.m. to Noon Pacific, explores the importance of changing the way we pursue the future. ZOOM'D takes listeners out to the big picture, in to the up-close-and-personal, and toward a future of constant renewal. Whether focused on the economic crisis, energy, climate change, or sustainability at large, the show examines patterns at play, drivers behind them, and perspectives of leadership.
