Sneaky Games, an Austin-based advergame development studio, has launched a new website, including six new playable casual games, in order to demonstrate to how easy and effective an advergame campaign can be.
As traditional media clamors to stay afloat, many companies are shifting their spending to digital options. e-marketer recently reported that online expenditures will continue to take a larger and larger share of total ad spending, growing to over 15% of budgets by 2013.
Sneaky Games wants those budget holders to know that gaming should be considered alongside other online vehicles. "Marketers need to know that gaming doesn't have to be a major project that takes months and months," says David Godwin, CEO of Sneaky Games; "we created these games as proof points that workable, branded games are as easy to create as full page advertisements."
Gaming is going mainstream and that's important news for marketers. Not only do gamers span demographic segments - a recent study by Packaged Facts reported that 40% of gamers are over 45 and that women are the fastest growing gaming sector, but the majority of game spending growth is being fueled by moderate gamers. In other words, casual gaming is becoming an activity enjoyed by a wide population, much the same way television viewing is enjoyed today. Games are fast becoming the new advertising frontier.
"For half a century or more marketers have dreamed of consumers being able to truly interact with the attributes of their brands," says Godwin; "while other mediums have utterly failed to make that vision a reality, games can do it. And they do it well."
From the Sneaky Games website, http://www.sneakygames.com, visitors can try out up to six games - each of which has slightly different game play dynamics. Puzzle Master, the featured game, includes increasingly difficult obstacles that require speed and brain power to overcome.
Hollywood Challenge illustrates how video content can be easily integrated into game-play, while Witches Difference shows how striking graphics can elevate even the simplest game to a whole new level.
The new website also includes a newsletter archive where visitors can read past issues of the Sneaky Peek - an online publication focused on the latest in Advergaming.
