Sun-Gard Korea recently hosted the first annual tint off competition at the 2009 Seoul Auto Salon, July 2-5. Twenty window film installers from all over Korea participated in the event. They represented all major film brands sold in Korea. In addition, over 70 other dealers and manufacturers' representatives were on hand to cheer on their favorite installers.

Steven Chun, President of Sun-Gard Korea and "Master" window tinter and trainer, Mr. "Sabu" Shin Hyun-il, owner of Tint Professional of Seoul served as co-hosts for the event. Samsung-Renault donated five Samsung QM-5 SUV's (known in the USA as Nissan Pathfinders), featuring challenging, curved and rounded rear windows, as well as deep, curved windshields which are allowed to receive window film in Korea.

The judges consisted of Kim In-Kwon, President, Saehan Sheet/Sun-Tek Korea; Chong Jae Hoon, Business Manager, Accessories Division, Samsung Motors; Mr. Hoe Tae Seok, Director, Accessories Division, Samsung-Renault Korea; and Jim Ford, International Sales Manager, Solamatrix. The judges were assisted by five volunteer referees from the Korean window film industry.

The contestants were allowed to bring their preferred installation tools, and were provided with Sun-Gard's GP Max series film. The twenty tinters simultaneously filmed sections of each of the five vehicles. The competition was divided into segments allowing time limits of 15 minutes for the side window application, 35 minutes for the rear window, and 35 minutes for front windshield application. The contestants were judged on several factors that included cleanliness, visible quality, shrinking technique, and overall quality as well as speed.

The competition was then narrowed to five finalists, who were each given 40 minutes to film both windshield and rear window, and again judged for the same factors that placed them into the Final Five.

After the final scores were tallied, Mr. Park Byeong-yeol, owner of Car Interior Shop of Gwangju, was declared the Grand Prize Winner of Sun-Gard Tint Off Korea 2009. Mr. Park brings five years of tint experience, and is a former student of the Tint Professional Window Film Training School.

Solamatrix is proud to recognize Park Byeong-yeol as this year's champion of the Sun-Gard Tint Off Korea. In addition to a fine crystal trophy and industry-wide recognition in Korea, Park will attend SEMA 2009 in Las Vegas as a guest of Sun-Gard Korea.

Solamatrix wishes to thank Sun-Gard Korea, Samsung Motors, Tint Professional, Park Byeong-yeol, and all of the participants who made Korea's first ever window tint competition an outstanding success that received national televised coverage.
