Drive for more environmentally friendly and unified society fuels new business opportunity and second location for local Salon & Spa.

After eleven years in business together, mother and daughter team Linda Russell and Kathie Jones-Hannem will open the doors to a second Total E'clips Salon and Spa location this week in Spall Plaza.

In keeping with the spirit of providing an environment that promotes harmony with staff, clients, community and the world at large; Russell and Jones-Hannem have implemented some impressive and progressive initiatives into their new location and brand.

A shift towards team unity meant changing their paradigm from a traditional pay structure to one with a higher vision: "The move from a commission based structure to team based pay enabled the business to leap forward faster then we could have imagined. Our team now operates as a unit and with trust" states Jones-Hannem.

A recent article on Castanet demonstrates a true commitment to running a meaningful and ethical business; when Russell without hesitation opened her doors and heart to a local woman emotionally and physically exhausted by the challenges of having a young child with cancer. The letter to the editor states: "I want to thank Total E-clips for being so giving and thoughtful and having one of the biggest hearts around. These are the businesses that I believe we should be supporting, the small business that give back to their community and have compassion for so many."

To Russell and Jones-Hannem, feeling a sense of beauty does not have to come with a high price tag simply because of elegant surroundings. Russell professes: "In today's economy, it can be hard to rationalize what is considered indulgent spending. We believe every person deserves to feel like they have been on holiday after a day at the spa and our pricing structure reflects that."

Their lean and green culture is also illustrated on their brand new website ( with time and paper saving innovations such as real time online appointment bookings and instant, downloadable online gift certificates. The stylist management at Total E'Clips are showing their business genius side too, by riding the technology wave ahead of their competition through integrated email marketing, SMS text messaging, and on-the-fly discount campaigns. "Our business is all about relationships, and technology allows us to nurture our connections and relationships" says Russell.

Additionally, very committed to environmentally friendly practices, Total E'Clips is a certified Aveda salon spa. Aveda is the first beauty company to achieve a Cradle to Cradle sustainability endorsement.

Aveda, who partners with salon and spa professionals around the world, sees beauty as a craft, not as a product result. Aveda believes that authentic beauty is one that works in harmony with the greater web of life.  It does not qualify as beauty if it hurts any of the diverse life forms that the best beauty artist of all, Nature, created.  Authentic Beauty cares for the environment which we inherited from elders and will leave to generations that follow us. To facilitate the choice of ingredients that meet these standards, Aveda is partnering with the EPEA, an environmental research institute located in Germany, who are authored the "Cradle to Cradle" design principals for products.
