CMA Closes Deal On Acquisition of BearingPoint
NY IT firm awarded business from former global technology leader, adds staff
Latham, NY (PRWEB) July 17, 2009 -- The state's largest woman-owned information technology firm has acquired BearingPoint's public services operation in New York and announced the staff additions from the former industry leader, in a move detailed Tuesday.
CMA, http://cma.com/, was awarded the continuation of active projects at the state Department of Health, state Education Department and the state Office of Mental Health in a bankruptcy agreement reached last month. The deal closed on July 10th.
"This was a great opportunity to augment CMA's excellent and talented staff with additional resources and expertise," said CMA President Kay Stafford. "CMA is now better positioned to provide even better solutions in health and education services technology. These important projects will continue to provide critical programs and vital services to all New Yorkers. "
Prior to filing for bankruptcy this year, BearingPoint was widely recognized as a leader in the global management and technology consulting field. After completing an initial public offering in 2001, the company changed its name from KPMG Consulting to BearingPoint in 2002. Specializing in design and delivery of large scale systems integrations projects, BearingPoint grew to a $3 billion business before the company was hit by financial woes.
BearingPoint's New York-based business grew by more than 1,000-percent over the last five years.
As a result of the deal, 14 former BearingPoint employees are now working for CMA. The new additions take CMA's total staff to 362 employees in what has become one of the fastest growing information technology firms in the country.
CMA is a New York State certified woman-owned business with corporate headquarters in Latham, NY and offices in New York, New York; Washington, DC; Austin, TX and Phoenix, AZ. They offer services nationwide from Texas to Oregon and from Guam to Maine. CMA is celebrating 25 years of excellence in information technology services.
