Market Leader Adds New Capabilities to Concept Enterprise Product Configurator

Configure One™ , a leading provider of web-based product configurator and electronic catalog software, today announced the availability of Concept Enterprise Product ConfiguratorTM and Concept E-CatalogTM Version 8.1.

Following on heels of Version 8 delivered earlier this year, Configure One has further enhanced its application with the addition of new functionality and technical improvements to increase flexibility, usability, and improve performance.

Key features of Concept Version 8.1 include:
Global Rules - This new functionality enables an administrator to define and maintain rules at a global level. This provides greater flexibility and improves maintenance for a company that has multiple product lines with similar options and rules.

CSS Administration - This functionality allows administrators to maintain cascading style sheets (CSS) directly within Concept. Customers can now more easily tailor the application's "look and feel" to their specific needs and more strongly enforce their brand in the marketplace.

Input Definition Options - New input definition options improve the user experience during the configuration process when working with large lists of inputs. Using "type ahead" functionality allows users to sort through lists of options in a more intuitive manner and more quickly select their desired options. Users can type part of a selection, and Concept interactively displays matching values.

Custom JavaServer Pages (JSP) - Version 8.1 provides the ability to assign a custom JSP at the input group level. This allows more flexibility to tailor the "look and feel" of the user interface, and provides a readily accessible method to extend the functionality of Concept without modifying the underlying software by allowing calls to external applications.

Version Reporting - All files within the Concept application are now embedded with version data. This enables Configure One support staff to more quickly deliver software patches and enhancements and to proactively monitor the health of customers' applications to address issues before they are exposed to the user base.

Quote Filtered BOM Listing - Based on Configure One's diverse customer base and their varied requirements related to displaying Concept-generated data, the options available for the display of bills of material (BOM's) have been expanded to give users even more options regarding how data is presented to their customers.

Performance Enhancements - Version 8.1 contains many enhancements that improve performance, and help administrators maintain the system, especially in the area of creating and maintaining logic item conditions and driven price rules.

Room Layout - Configure One has completely rewritten its Room Layout module to provide Concept users even more opportunities to accurately and professionally propose products to their customers through visualization on the web. Users can create 2D and 3D scenes and display their products in a manner consistent with their customers' environments. By dragging-and-dropping configured and salable products into the scene, users can better demonstrate to their customers how the proposed products will function in the target surroundings. Users customize the scene by adding doors, windows, wall colors, and flooring. The configured space is viewable in 2D and 3D, enabling the user to adjust camera zooms, angles, and locations. Room views may then be printed, saved, exported, and/or incorporated into a Concept generated document, and interactive 3D movies can be created and shared with customers within Concept Collaboration Sites.

"This is the second Concept release this year," said Mike McDonnell, Configure One's vice president of product development. "Our commitment to further developing and enhancing our products to meet customer requirements is the foundation of Configure One. We're helping our customers weather tough market conditions by allowing them to quote, sell, and deliver products more quickly and accurately than ever before. Customer feedback plays a large part in our product planning process, and as such many of the enhancements delivered in Version 8.1 are a direct result of customer input."
