Carpinteria, CA (PRWEB) July 21, 2009
The International Sports Sciences Association (http://www.ISSAonline.edu) announced today the release of their Specialist in Fitness Nutrition (SFN) certification curriculum.
In an effort to combat the highest levels of obesity the United States has ever seen, the ISSA is confident the SFN certification program will educate personal trainers on how to better train their clients to understand and apply sound nutrition principles.
"There is much confusion in the marketplace about nutrition, indicative of the increasing levels of overweight and obesity, reaching 70% of the US population," reports Dr. Sal Arria, CEO and founder of the ISSA. "The Specialist in Fitness Nutrition curriculum offers the fitness enthusiast and personal trainer a proper education, empowering them to become experts on a topic that raises so much doubt."
In a society with an abundance of diet programs, including the South Beach diet, the Abs diet, Pritikin, Atkins, Liberation Diet, low carbohydrate and high protein, vegetarian or vegan, making a decision on which diet plan is best for you is no easy choice.
"Proper diet combined with a professionally designed and monitored fitness plan will help the client cut through the clutter and achieve their physical fitness and health objectives safely and more efficiently. This is exactly why the Specialist in Fitness Nutrition (SFN) program will benefit personal trainers and ultimately their clients," says Dr. Arria.
In addition to the Specialist in Fitness Nutrition (SFN) curriculum, ISSA has six additional fitness education programs, responsible for educating nearly 125,000 personal trainers from over 85 countries. The courses include; the Certified Fitness Trainer (CFT) course which is their core personal training certification program, the Specialist in Performance Nutrition (SPN) for sport nutrition and supplementation training, the Fitness Therapy (FT) certification for working with post physical therapy clients, the Specialist in Sports Conditioning (SSC) certification to train athletes, the Youth Fitness Trainer (YFT) program to work with kids and the Senior Fitness Trainer (SFOA) certification for a specialization in working with the aging baby boomer market.
