Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 20, 2009
Western International University (WIU), a leader in flexible, stimulating, oncampus and online adult education, has recently enhanced the enrollment process for international graduate students. Recognizing that educational systems differ throughout the world, WIU can now accept qualified, evaluated three-year bachelor degrees from universities outside the United States.
Students who have graduated from qualified three-year bachelor degree programs and who meet all other admission requirements are now considered for direct acceptance into a WIU master degree program. A qualifying program is one that is generally defined as "progressive" and "non-terminal," meaning that it is designed to lead to further studies, rather than a terminal or vocational degree.
To qualify for direct acceptance into a master degree program, the three-year degree holder can request a course-by-course transcript evaluation of international credentials through World Education Service (WES). Once the WES evaluation is received by WIU, the admissions process can be completed and the student may enroll in classes.
For students who choose not to provide a WES evaluation or whose WES evaluation does not indicate U.S. bachelor degree equivalency, the WIU Bridge Program incorporates an additional year of study to allow qualifying students with three-year degrees to enter as graduate students in a master degree program.
"WIU has always provided professional, personal attention to international students who wish to study in the United States. We are very pleased to offer students from international communities another option to streamline their enrollment process and accelerate completion of their graduate degrees," said Karen Janitell, Executive Director of Enrollment and Marketing.
