reThinking eHealth Webinar Announced: Hospital Marketing in the eHealth Era

Register for the next reThinking eHealth Webinar on July 29th at 2pm EST/ 11am PST

Birmingham, Ala. (PRWEB) July 19, 2009 -- In June of 2009, the world reached a turning point in our history. The Internet has now and forever changed the way people get information. In Iran, as a result of the recent contested presidential election, demonstrations and protests ensued. The government's crack-down on the demonstrations and the inability for media outlets to provide live coverage, private citizens used the video application on their phones to upload and share footage with the world using social media sites. Facebook and Twitter were quickly made unavailable in the region. Coincidence? The Iranian government claimed it was because the sites couldn't sustain the amount of traffic.

The speed in which people receive information has also reached unprecedented levels. The news of Michael Jackson's death first hit TMZ™, a popular celebrity gossip site, at 2:30pm on Thursday, June 25, 2009, only 4 minutes after his official time of death according to his death certificate. In addition, Google™ confirmed that when the news of Michael Jackson's death broke, it feared the search engine was under attack by a virus because the number of people hitting the site was extraordinary - almost three times that of the Obama inauguration. The power and speed of the Internet is evident and is now an unavoidable fact.

Traditional marketing, in or outside of the healthcare industry, must adapt for the new eHealth era. In the past, hospital marketing consisted of billboards, radio spots and television ads. But in a world where iPods, PandoraTM and XM RadioTM provide music, HuluTM and broadcast network Web sites provide full episodes and everyone is shopping, socializing and even working online, traditional marketing may not be reaching your target audience.

Join us for the next reThinking eHealth Webinar as Bill Holland, VP of eMarketing Solutions for MEDSEEK, shares some of the knowledge he has acquired over the last 25 years while working with healthcare organizations to increase market share and enhance their online presence. Bill will highlight some of the tools that are commonly used to heighten awareness in the community, and will interview key MEDSEEK clients who have successfully established online social networking groups, content sharing tactics, Web marketing strategies and a growing list of virtual friends, fans and followers.
