AP Matters, the flagship publication of International Accounts Payable Professionals, has been selected by the Florida Magazine Association to receive Charlie Awards in three categories. Charlie Awards are presented each year in 75 categories in areas of general excellence, editorial excellence, design excellence, and printing excellence. AP Matters is being recognized in the categories of cover design, feature writing, and in-depth reporting.

"This is the first year AP Matters has been judged alongside other publications, so we're especially pleased to be recognized coming out of the gate," said Thomas M. Bohn, IAPP CEO and executive director. "The Florida Magazine Association is the largest state magazine association in the nation, and the Charlie Awards are highly regarding in magazine publishing." The awards are based solely on the evaluation of an independent panel comprising a "who's who" of leading writers, editors, photographers and designers from outside Florida.

A year ago, IAPP brought AP Matters under the direction of a professional editor for the first time. Since then, it has undergone a visual redesign as well as a content transformation, with articles objectively reported and written by professional journalists. Industry-specific content is also provided by practitioners, under the strategic guidance of the IAPP Editorial Advisory Board and working closely with the editor.

"These changes and the addition of a new associate editor strategically position AP Matters to become the thought leader for a growing audience of accounts payable and other financial professionals," Laureen Crowley Algier, IAPP editor in chief. "In fact the new editor, Diane Sears, began her association with AP Matters as the writer responsible for both of the articles selected for awards."

The IAPP recently launched a fully searchable, interactive digital edition of the magazine at http://www.APMatters.org, and is preparing to launch a counterpart publication for accounts receivable professionals.

The Charlie Awards will be presented at a gala August 7 at the Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando, FL., during the FMA annual conference. Winners will also be featured on FMA's Web site, http://www.floridamagazine.org.
