I will always be grateful!
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 21, 2009
The Active Myofascial Therapy association is hosting its first annual certification seminar in August 3-7, 2009 in San Francisco, California.
A small group of physical and massage therapists from across the country will join the founder of the Active Myofascial Therapy technique, Irene Diamond, RT., to learn The Diamond Method™ in a 5 day comprehensive seminar. This 40 hour course will provide therapists with a complete rehabilitation therapy system to apply in their clinical practice.
Therapists who are already providing the AMT method in their clinics and private practices have seen success in getting fast results such as relief of aches and pain, and improvement in joint range of motion, all without surgery, drugs or needles.
"I just took your AMT neck workshop. My experience thus far has been that your Active Myofascial Therapy technique provides a great deal of myofascial relaxation and calm for the recipient. Active engagement helps to break down mental limitations as to how far the client thinks they can move before feeling pain or discomfort. The more they are motivated to do their homework, the greater the improvement will be.
I'm excited to learn more about this work!
Sincerely, Chris Mattern, CMT, Indiana"
Neck, back, arm or shoulder pain; migraines and head aches and a myriad of other painful conditions can often be reduced or completely eliminated very effectively because the AMT system incorporates a proprietary system of three of the best modalities in rehabilitation therapy: Myofascial therapy, Neuromuscular reeducation, trigger point therapy along with ergonomic assessments, posture and therapeutic exercises, which The Diamond Method refers to as "Actions".
Active Myofascial Therapy - The Diamond Method is now the primary therapy of choice for many rehabilitation therapists, regardless if a patient's pain is chronic or more acute such as from a recent injury, surgery, car accident, work-related injury or sports accident. Irene Diamond, RT teaches shorter seminars and workshops throughout the year and hopes to have many more therapists certified every year to provide more relief to patients.
The August seminar is the first, of what will be, an annual certification for therapists who want to add AMT into their methods of therapy. Therapists who come to San Francisco to attend, will receive 40 continuing education units and the title of Certified Active Myofascial Therapist if they pass the written exam and provide at least one case study. Irene is limiting the enrollment to only 20 people to be sure they will really grasp the method.
Irene Diamond, RT, an exercise and movement therapist and neuromuscular re-educator developed the Diamond Method over 25 years ago. A spinal cord injury at age 15 while performing acrobatics left her completely paralyzed. Eventually she went on to regain full movement, but was in chronic pain. After completing her Rehabilitation Therapy and Recreation degree, she used herself and clients as the first guinea pigs. She fine-tuned the work and has now been teaching AMT to therapists and other health-care providers since 1989 in workshops around the nation.
Active Myofascial Therapy - The Diamond Method, will decrease and often completely eliminate patient's muscle restrictions and chronic pain and increase range of motion and flexibility.
Andrea O'Hare, who is commercial properties manager was skeptical at first and didn't want to take another chance with yet-another therapy that might not work, just waste her money and precious time, let alone might exacerbate her condition. "After being in a car accident and suffering for four years with chronic nerve pain in my neck and back, I have tried everything from acupuncture, shiatsu, physical therapy, spine clinic, and medication. Neurologists and spine doctors prescribed medication and rest (no working out). They told me I would not dance again and would always have this pain. I was crushed with the negative feedback and physically drained by the heavy medication.
That's when I found Diamond and Active Myofascial Therapy. AMT really helped me reduce my daily headaches, neck pain and tightness, lower back pain, and it reduced the tingling I felt in both of my arms. It helped me be more aware of my posture and daily actives that increase my pain levels. I stopped taking my pain meds.
The Active Myofascial Therapy relieved a significant amount of my pain in only a couple of sessions. I feel great! I feel like I am now on my way to being pain free."

The Diamond Method Provides Results:
"Her therapy is kind of magical, even though that sounds corny," stated April Cardelli, who sought Diamond's help after a double mastectomy. "I don't even know how to describe it." Cardelli, a cancer survivor, was in constant pain for years after her procedure and found that even lying down made it difficult to breathe.
"I was forced to sleep in a recliner chair for about a year and a half," she recalled.
But after being referred by her doctor to Diamond, Cardelli saw immediate results. She had a total of six sessions with Diamond but by the third visit, Cardelli was able to again sleep a full eight hours in her bed rather than in a chair. "I will always be grateful!" she said.
Joan Gibson had back problems for more than 25 years. After three spinal surgeries, Gibson's left leg was left partially paralyzed. She went through many types of therapy, yet nothing seemed to alleviate her excruciating pain.
"I even worked for Kaiser Hospital, but they couldn't give me relief so I was on full disability from work and I was still in a lot of pain," Gibson said. "I had been a runner and walker for most of my adult life. Losing that ability was very difficult for me."
Gibson made an appointment for AMT, which also included a short routine of corrective-based Actions for her to do at home to help alleviate Gibson's pain. Not only did the pain lessen, but Gibson soon regained the ability to stand up straight and walk up to 30 minutes a day.
"That was an amazing feat to me," Gibson exclaimed. "It really inspired me to have more hope that there was the possibility of having things improve for me which I didn't have with traditional medical treatment." Today, Gibson has even gone back to work and is enjoying a better quality of life.
