Holiday Resales, a division of Holiday Group, has announced its next webinar, "What Is a Home Owners Association and Why Should You Care?" The free virtual seminar will take place on Thursday July 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. PDT. The webinar is free and open to the public. Simply defined, a timeshare Home Owners Association is a group of owners elected or appointed to oversee the management of the resort, administer the rules, and plan for maintenance and repairs.

The "What Is An HOA and Why Should You Care?" webinar will feature vacation lifestyle expert and writer, Lisa Ann Schreier. "This webinar isn't about pressuring people to buy something," Schreier noted. "That's not what I do. But if you've ever wondered what a timeshare Home Owners Association does, or have thought about joining your HOA, then this webinar is for you."

Web seminars, popularly referred to as webinars, are a convenient alternative to traditional seminars, allowing people to participate via their computers from home or work. Attendees see and hear the live seminar, and can even interact with questions or comments of their own. Gail Bennett, of Holiday Group, will host the webinar. "Many folks do not realize the impact that Home Owners Associations can have on their timeshare," said Bennett. "If it's not properly managed, the quality of your resort can be greatly affected, and that can directly affect your wallet."

Among the topics the webinar will cover are:

  • What rights do HOA members have?
  • What questions should you ask the HOA before you buy?
  • Does the HOA cover you even if you aren't a member?
  • Can your HOA do anything about special assessments?

Schreier noted that one of the most important things timeshare owners can do is understand how their HOA works, yet few buyers take this into consideration when they make a purchase. "If you're worried about getting hit with a special assessment, or don't understand why the carpeting hasn't been replaced in years or some other problem hasn't been fixed, you'll want to attend this webinar."

Holiday's webinars offer real-world knowledge about timesharing in a no-pressure, consumer friendly environment. The "What Is An HOA?" webinar will last about 30 minutes and will be followed by a question and answer session in which the audience can participate.

"We look forward to Lisa sharing her knowledge and insight about the importance of not only understanding HOAs prior to purchasing, Bennett said, "but also what consumers can do as owners to ensure their HOAs are being managed correctly."
