A Family's Dream Comes True: 'The Girl Scout Leader, Movie Mom,' Wins Big

An inspirational story on how a Girl Scout Leader Mom became an Award Winning movie Producer and got a distribution deal. She put her kids in the film, hired her husband as the Director, and they have now all won awards! The film is a comedy about the guys who videotape weddings and what happens when the owner has to videotape his ex-wife's wedding.

we are very fortunate to attract and screen some of the best independent films in the world. This year's winning films were hugely entertaining, and I expect that they will go on to earn great success in the national and international marketplace.

"This is a very exciting time for 'The Video Guys' and our family production company, Silly Sister's Productions," said Jeanne Brennan, the film's Producer, who left show business 13 years ago to become a mother of 2 girls who work with her on her independent films. Jeanne is now known in her two Girl Scout Troops as The Movie Mom. "The girls in both my troops are in the film, it is amazing to have so many talented friends as well as accomplished actors in our film." It was not just a family venture, the whole town came together to help with locations, extras and of course, The Video Guy's Car." "This year at the Long Island International Film Expo, it was an incredible thrill to watch my 13 year old daughter Sabrina, win her 3rd Best Supporting Actress award in as many festivals."

"The Video Guys" has won 11 major awards in it's last 3 film festivals, including Best Feature in all 3!

"Making this film was a family's dream come true," notes Dan Brennan. "My wife Jeanne is the Producer, while I wrote and Directed the film. In addition to our award winning daughter Sabrina, our younger daughter Diana also appears in several comical scenes in the film. It has been a very exciting ride for us, and a pretty cool accomplishment for a family to come together and have this kind of success." "There are no guarantees in the Indie Film business, and despite our tiny production budget--we paid for 'The Video Guys' out of our own pocket--I believe we have an intriguing story about a fun family movie," added Dan Brennan. Jeanne adds "We recently just picked up domestic and world wide distribution, however, I still have to drive my kids to dance, and my next big production is my 13 year old daughter's backyard pool party!"

The Silly Sisters Production took the Expo's overall award of "Best Feature Film," in addition to "Best Actor" (Dan Brennan), "Best Actress" (Allison Lane), "Best Supporting Actor" (Russ Camarda) and "Best Supporting Actress" (Sabrina Brennan). Jeanne Brennan also received an Honorable Mention for Best Cinematography.

The recent Expo nods complement back-to-back wins this year at the Hoboken Film Festival ("Best Feature Film," "Grand Jury Prize," "Best Supporting Actress" and "Best Trailer") and the International Family Film Festival in Hollywood ("Best Comedy Feature" and "Best Child Actor").
