The FileTrail® RFID ToolkitTM - a comprehensive collection of .Net Web Service functions - is an affordable option for companies looking to enhance their existing tracking investments with RFID capabilities.

Today, FileTrail Inc, the industry-leading provider of browser-based records management software and RFID technology, launched an innovative solution that allows organizations to add the proven power of RFID technology to existing tracking applications. The FileTrail RFID Toolkit - a comprehensive collection of .Net Web Service functions - was created as an affordable option for companies looking to enhance their existing tracking investments with RFID capabilities.

"We've created the ideal way for an organization to get more value from their existing tracking application investment," said Darrell Mervau, Vice President of Business Development with FileTrail. "Everyone knows the benefits that RFID can bring to an organization, but may see the cost of replacing their existing infrastructure as prohibitive. Now with our RFID Toolkit, we've created a bridge between existing systems and the latest RFID technology."

Easily integrated by an in-house developer, FileTrail's RFID Toolkit allows an organization to start posting item tracking and location information into their current system. Flexibly designed, the RFID Toolkit will work with almost every existing application including barcode-based tracking systems, and systems that are built to use older RFID technologies.

"With our RFID Toolkit, companies in any industry can build on their current tracking solution," said Mervau. "They'll be able to reduce the time and cost associated with managing, locating, and tracking items. In addition, RFID lets them secure exits, automatically track items as they move, and find missing items quickly. We've brought RFID tracking to the masses."

FileTrail developed their RFID Toolkit using Microsoft .Net v3.5 using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). The suite of Web Services support multiple transport protocols, including HTTP and WS HTTP, and provides industry standard messaging including SOAP (1.1 or 1.2) and MTOM. The RFID Toolkit runs on Windows Server 2003/2008 (with IIS) and uses a SQL Server 2005/2008 database.
