The City of Norfolk is using asset tags to track over 100,000 road and traffic signs over 66 square miles of that city to meet Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) compliance rules.
Until now, those signs were recorded manually and included only vague location descriptions, making it very difficult to keep track of each sign and its location. Norfolk's road crews now use automated asset tracking to help them perform maintenance or carry out installations and removals using item-level precision with durable fixed asset tags.
