Sunbelt Software, a leading provider of Windows security software, today announced the appointment of software and security veteran Bill Emerick to the newly created position of vice president of product management and operations. In this role, Emerick, who most recently served as vice president of product management at Sophos, will report directly to Sunbelt's CEO Alex Eckelberry.

As vice president of product management and operations, Emerick will leverage his 20 years of experience in technology leadership positions to oversee Sunbelt's entire product line including VIPRE®, the company's flagship next-generation anti-malware offering. In addition, Emerick will have management responsibilities for the company's customer support and IT organizations.
Prior to Sunbelt, Emerick held multiple positions at Sophos, including vice president of product management and vice president of development. Previously, he was co-founder, CTO and SVP of engineering for network access control company ENDFORCE (acquired by Sophos) and led the product and service development activities and staffs at both UUNET and CompuServe Network Services. He also served as vice president of engineering at TechSmith.
