Kapi'olani Community College Team gets the Edge and Wins the Gold in National Culinary Competition with 24 Capacity Plate Rack System from Plate-Mate.

No team from Hawaii has ever won this national culinary competition, and they are ready to end that streak with a little help from Plate-Mate

Plate-Mate's dinner plate rack assisted the Kapi'olani Community College team during the American Culinary Federation National Competition in July. Chef and Professor Frank Leake approached Plate-Mate with the need for sponsorship for his University of Hawaii, Kapi'olani Community College team, and Plate-Mate was excited to help.

Frank Leake made Plate-Mate aware of his culinary team's achievement and upcoming national competition. In April, five KCC students from ACF Chefs de Cuisine Association of Hawaii Honolulu won the ACF Western Student Team Regional Championship, sponsored by R.L. Schreiber, Inc. The KCC team then represented the United States western region in Orlando at the American Culinary Federation's National Convention. "No team from Hawaii has ever won this national culinary competition, and they are ready to end that streak with a little help from Plate-Mate," said Leake before Nationals. Plate-Mate supplied the team with the 24 plate capacity table top stacker TM24-220 for the competition. "This tabletop 24 capacity dinner plate holder gave them an edge over the competition, especially when it came to getting desserts plated and 'dressed' in advance," stated Mark Erlitz of Plate-Mate. According to Frank Leake, "We need to dress 24 of our dessert plates at one time and need a spot to hold them for final plating." Then he added, "A Plate-Mate® plate server TM24-220 helped us to be successful."

After winning the western region competition against student teams from Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington in April 4 and 5, the KCC team moved onto nationals. In the final competition, Team Hawaii competed against teams from Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania preparing four-course meals for discerning judges accredited by the American Culinary Federation. The Kapi'olani Community College team scored the most points and was named ACF Student Team National Champions for 2009. Congratulations Team Kapiolani! Plate-Mate is glad to help current chefs and future chefs wherever the food and competition takes you.

In addition to the 24 capacity dinner plate holder TM24-220, Plate-Mate specializes in collapsible plate stackers, twin plate racks, table top plate shelves, and wall mounted plate stacking racks.
