I can safely state that I have never, in 15 years of developing technology conferences, encountered such significant and compelling stories of achievement.
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 26, 2009
Portfolio Decisionware Inc., a leading portfolio management and resource planning solution provider, announces that the first ever Resource Planning Summit was an unqualified success drawing over 100 attendees across more than 40 companies. Industry leaders from Finance, Technology, Life Sciences and General Manufacturing gathered together with members of PDMA (Product Development Management Association) and PMI (Project Management Institute) to discuss best practices in Resource Planning and Portfolio Management.
"The Summit is a thought leadership event aimed at providing a platform for marquee organizations to announce the sparkling results they have achieved in the now crucial arena of resource planning," stated Peter Heinrich, Founder & CEO of PDWare. In 2009, all companies are stretched thin, but many have real time-to-market issues, and some are concerned about their ability to accurately forecast resource demand several quarters out. This Summit equipped attendees to lead those organizations in new approaches," Heinrich added.
Directors and VPs from organizations such as Medtronic, Motorola, Life Technologies, Floyd Medical Center and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals spoke on the benefits that process and tool improvements in resource planning have provided to their firms. Brad Hedstrom, Director of Portfolio Management and Programs at Life Technologies, reviewed how Fiscal Year planning roll ups have been reduced from 2-3 weeks to less than a day. Susan Wadsworth, Director of SAP Operations Management at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, described how new tools and techniques allow one division to reduce over-commitments by up to 70%. Joe Barkai, IDC's Practice Director for Manufacturing Insights' Product Life-Cycle Strategies, delivered a presentation that confirmed resource planning as one of the key focus areas for manufacturing firms in 2009.
Phil Wolf, a PDWare Vice President, believes this conference made a strong statement. Wolf says "Before the conference we suggested that Resource Planning is one of the management disciplines that will help organizations to rapidly improve their operations. The companies that participated in the Summit not only validated that statement, but also contributed valuable experiences and insights that attendees can work with as soon as they get back to the office. Coleman Grimmett of Medtronic Corporation added "this forum provided a knowledgeable group of companies and individuals who have 'been there and done that' or are in the process of doing so."
Dick Rutledge, Summit Director, was delighted with attendee feedback. Rutledge says "I can safely state that I have never, in 15 years of developing technology conferences, encountered such significant and compelling stories of achievement."
