Adults looking for books to entertain and inspire the children in their lives need look no further than these three books recently named medal winners by The Young Voices Foundation Awards.
Jules the Lighthouse Dog was awarded the Silver Medal in the Children's Picture Book - Legacy Category. The story of a dog with simply nothing to do until one fateful day changes his point of view, was inspired by the author's time living with her Bernese Mountain Dog Jules at the Pt. Loma Lighthouse in San Diego. Jules was the unofficial greeter of all guests to the lighthouse grounds and soon became known as the lighthouse dog.
Just Perfect: More Adventures of Jules the Lighthouse Dog was awarded the Silver Medal in the Children's Picture Book - All Ages Category. Also a 2009 Indie Book Award Finalist, Just Perfect is a gentle tale of acceptance and diversity as told through the continuing adventures of the lovable canine Jules.
Kid Canine - Superhero! was awarded the Bronze Medal in the Children's Picture Book - All Ages Category. Kid Canine follows the adventures of Dill, a small, fluffy dog who fantasizes about being a superhero, which more often than not lands him into trouble, until he realizes what his true "superhero" power is.
The Young Voices Foundation Awards (http://www.youngvoicesawards.com) honor and identify books and media that inspire, mentor, and educate youth and their families. The Foundation looks for books that parents will love to read to their children, books that capture the imagination of a reluctant reader, and books that incorporate a positive message in an inviting and entertaining format.
P.T. Custard, the Chesapeake, VA author of all three books states, "I am thrilled that my books were deemed medal worthy by the Young Voices Foundation whose mission and goals so clearly match what I try to achieve with my books."
The books are published by Black Plume Books and are available for sale through their website http://www.blackplumebooks.com
