"We're very excited about the launch of the AgingSmart Network, as we believe it will fill a void for baby boomers looking for information that is pertinent at this stage in their lives. As a large portion of our population approaches retirement, we are all looking to make sure we can maintain our quality of life through retirement, and the AgingSmart Network can help prepare listeners for exactly that," said Harry S. Margolis, co-founder of the AgingSmart Network.

Margolis, a nationally recognized elder law attorney, and Errol St. Clair Smith, an Emmy- Award-winning journalist, partnered in 2008 to create ElderLaw Radio, the predecessor of the AgingSmart Network, which focuses on long-term care for seniors. The pair soon realized the need for comprehensive information about all of the far-reaching issues that affect people as they age, prompting the development of a network of channels that explores such issues for consumers.

The AgingSmart Network consists of four channels and will soon expand with additional stations. Current network channels include:

  •     Legal Smarts--Focuses on topics including when to hire an elder law attorney, estate planning and elder mediation
  •     Health Smarts--Provides tips for avoiding illness, financing prescription drugs and living healthy
  •     Personal Smarts--Guides listeners through living a happier life during working years and beyond
  •     Family Smarts--Helps listeners make informed decisions for themselves, their parents and their children, from choosing a nursing home to settling family disputes

"Internet radio is the fastest growing medium on the Web, so we're thrilled to be able to provide consumers with a wide range of valuable information in a format that is accessible at home, work or on the go," said Smith. "By connecting experts to consumers with just a click of their mouse or a tap of the PDA, we hope to bring some clarity to the often complex issues surrounding aging."
