Health care is facing some serious challenges as we move forward, especially in the area of personnel

Johnson City, TN (PRWEB) July 29, 2009

Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA), headquartered in Johnson City, Tennessee, announced today the rollout of the TEDS® Talent Management Suite. TEDS is now live for the system-wide management of Mountain States' team member learning.

Mountain States Health Alliance provides comprehensive healthcare in Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, and North Carolina through its network of hospitals, primary/preventive care centers and outpatient care centers. MSHA is nationally recognized as a leader in healthcare technology.

TEDS, Inc. is an Atkins, Virginia-based software development and consulting firm that provides talent management software systems and support services for world-class companies and organizations throughout the U.S. and around the world.

MSHA deployed the TEDS Learning Management System, Learning on Demand© - one of the TEDS Talent Management System's modules - to distribute and manage team member training and compliance throughout their organization. TEDS Learning on Demand has optimized the speed and effectiveness of Mountain States team member learning by automating all learning administration functions including scheduling and launching of e-learning, course enrollment, and evaluations. Team members have easy access to their learning tasks any time and anywhere, because their courses, scheduled learning events, course assignments and tests are delivered on-line. New methodology was created to utilize TEDS' on-line testing for item analysis, resulting in for more effective testing.

Within four days of launch, TEDS was managing all active courses and 1.6 million migrated learning history records. 35% of Mountain States' learner population had accessed the system within the first week. Mountain States is licensed for 10,000 users.

"The management of Mountain States Health Alliance has exhibited a profound knowledge of current needs for accelerated and job-specific learning within the health care industry," said Joe Ellis, President and CEO of TEDS, Inc. "Their initiative to tie their courses to team members' required competencies shows a superior understanding of the future needs of health care providers. Mountain States is ensuring that all mandatory training is assigned and tracked through completion and evaluation. This not only provides enhanced regulatory compliance, but lays the foundation for total talent management in the future."

Having already implemented automated learning management via TEDS Learning on Demand, Mountain States will next implement the TEDS RTC Power© module to manage critical team member competencies and automate system-wide regulatory compliance. Competency management establishes the foundation for total Talent Management as Mountain States adds other TEDS Talent Management modules in a phased approach. These initiatives place Mountain States at the forefront of workforce planning and development within the health care industry.

In combination, TEDS' powerful software modules will assist Mountain States Health Alliance in recruiting, developing, and managing talent while monitoring and maximizing performance throughout their health care enterprise. The entire TEDS Talent Management system can be easily implemented in stages because the system is fully integrated and all modules communicate with each other through a single, common database.

"Health care is facing some serious challenges as we move forward, especially in the area of personnel," said Dennis Vonderfecht, MSHA President and CEO. "Mountain States is dedicated to being on the front lines of using the best technological resources to help meet these challenges. Implementing TEDS in our system will be a great asset in reaching that goal."

"The partnership with TEDS is an opportunity to build a more robust, integrated system for talent management in healthcare," Elaine Smith, MSHA Assistant Vice President of Organizational Development said. The power of this system lies in the ability to link learning activities, competency management, performance measurement and workforce planning activities, Smith added. "With rapid changes in technology and medical care, healthcare providers will benefit from access to high quality, just-in-time learning while managers and senior leaders will have up-to-date information on the status of the learning enterprise from the department to system-wide levels. MSHA is committed to supporting continuous learning for all our team members so that we can continue in our mission of providing excellent, patient-centered care to the patients and families we serve."

TEDS and Mountain States have also agreed to partner in the further development of health care-specific learning processes, competencies, and business practices aimed at achieving optimum performance in the healthcare setting. The companies plan to share these experiences with other large organizations in the healthcare industry.

"We are very pleased to have been selected by Mountain States Health Alliance," said Joe Ellis, TEDS' President and CEO. "MSHA is dedicated to using the latest technologies to make healthcare safer and to constantly improve the delivery of healthcare services. Their excellence in patient care is nationally recognized. Our mutual dedication to maximizing workforce talent and capabilities through innovative technologies makes this partnership very special."
