Rogue Records, like its home town of San Francisco, is no stranger to diversity, creativity or innovation. This week, Rogue Records debuts its first onsite music downloads page offering CD-Quality (CDQ) wav files for artist and founder, Gregory James. Samsara, the latest release from James, is the perfect showcase for highlighting CDQ sound. There will be a special free download available from Samsara at through the month of August.

The sound that James achieves on his acoustic guitars shows clarity and a unique fluid sense of agile technique. Rogue Records plans to release the rest of James' extensive catalog over the next few months in this same CDQ format adding high-resolution 96kHz audio files and also mp3s for smaller size files later in the year.

Many people have been disappointed by the sound of mp3s. Downloads Now! is a program created by musicians for fans who appreciate their listening experience. Rogue Records' decision to release Samsara with Downloads Now! is a commitment to a higher quality. The files are CD quality .wav format and once downloaded can be burned to a regular CD for listening. Those of you who care about sound, will enjoy hearing the natural sound of the instruments on Samsara.

To celebrate the release of the new download page, James will be performing at Yoshi's in San Francisco on August 5, 2009. Ranging from jazz to flamenco to pop, James brings together some of the Bay Area's finest musicians to perform selections from Samsara that evening. Deszon Claiborne (drums), Jonathan Herrera (bass), and Baron Shul (sax/flute), with special guests, Emily Palen (violin) and Craig Easley (spoken word) for this one-night-only performance. In the words of Downbeat magazine, James "Bridges the gap between musical adventure and mass appeal."

There is one show Wednesday August 5, 2009 starting at 8pm at Yoshi's located at 1330 Fillmore, San Francisco, CA, 94115. Tickets are $10 in advance and $14 at the door.
