The fact that the gaming industry has embraced MLD so wholeheartedly is a huge endorsement for our technology
Redwood Shores, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2009
- PureDepth,™ Inc. (OTC:PDEP), the creator of Multi-Layer Display (MLD™) technology and a leader in new visualization experiences, today announced that a line of MLD-based casino games produced for International Game Technology (IGT) has reached a new milestone, becoming available in 500 properties worldwide. This incredible growth comes just over one year since the product officially launched in June 2008. The first MLD-based slot machine was introduced at the 2007 Global Gaming Exposition (G2E) in Las Vegas.
MLD technology, which uses two or more layers of LCD panels placed in front of one another in a single monitor to create depth, makes gaming products more fun and interactive, increasing consumer enjoyment. Since expanding their line of casino games with Pure Depth's MLD technology, IGT has more than doubled its sales of MLD-based machines to properties throughout the world.
IGT's REELdepth™ games with MLD technology have been recognized with several awards, including being named 2009 Lottery Product of the Year by the Public Gaming Research Institute and one of the Top 20 Most Innovative Gaming Technology Products for 2008 by Casino Journal.
"The fact that the gaming industry has embraced MLD so wholeheartedly is a huge endorsement for our technology," said PureDepth CEO Andy Wood. "We're excited that property owners are seeing the value that MLD provides in terms of providing never-before-seen visualization experiences and customization options for their customers. Best of all, we believe the current machines have only scratched the surface of what MLD can do, and we look forward to working with IGT to bring more great games to market with even more eye-popping visual effects."
IGT offers more than 70 REELdepth video slots using MLD technology and has recently signed a ten-year extension of exclusivity with PureDepth. PureDepth has also signed an agreement with gaming and product developer Aurora Design, Inc. (ADI) to create two new casino games using advanced MLD effects.
REELdepth games with MLD technology give consumers and casino managers more control over the gaming experience by allowing players to select and play various games - from slots to video poker - on a single machine and enabling casinos to remotely change wagers, games and game content remotely. In addition, MLD technology offers the ability to digitally mimic the conventional mechanical-wheel slot machines beloved by many slot players. This is a significant achievement, as mechanical machines are not allowed in many U.S. locations.
By providing real depth instead of a simulation, PureDepth's technology delivers the most life-like visual experience ever available without the headaches and eye fatigue associated with traditional 3-D displays. This makes it ideal for applications in not only casino gaming, but also amusement gaming, public displays, mobile devices, data analysis and more.
